MARS Program
Mentors for Academic and Research Success
What is the MARS Program?
The Mentors for Academic and Research Success (MARS) program was established to further ROUCI’s mission of connecting undergraduates to research opportunities. The creation of the MARS program was not only a momentous opportunity to expand the scope of ROUCI’s mission, but also to provide more personal, peer-to-peer guidance on research to all undergraduates in the UCI community. The MARS program recognizes that each person has their own unique experience in academia and research, one that can be shared and tailored to help others who are pursuing their own paths. ROUCI as an organization helps students dip their foot into research, while the MARS program teaches students how to nurture their interest in research by enlisting the help of upperclassmen undergraduates who come from a wide range of disciplines. Our mentees are undergraduate students who receive one-on-one guidance through the research process and beyond. We connect them to a peer mentor that has similar research interests and career goals. Our mentors are 3rd/4th/5th-year undergraduate students and gain valuable mentorship experience by supporting their peers in their academic and career path. As a mentee or a mentor, you can be a part of the ROUCI family and expand your network!
